SBOTOP : England Legend Warns It Would Be Outrageous if Manchester United Fail to Beat Wolves

England legend Alan Shearer has shared his bold prediction ahead of the Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Manchester United clash in Matchweek 15 of the 2025/2026 Premier League season. According to the former striker, Manchester United should not face any meaningful obstacles to secure three points at Molineux Stadium.

Manchester United travel to Wolves carrying the weight of disappointment after dropping two points in their draw against West Ham United. Because of that setback, the Red Devils are desperate for a win to climb back up the Premier League table.

Shearer: Manchester United Must Win This Match

Writing in his analysis column for The Metro, Shearer stated that the match should heavily favor Manchester United. He believes the current state of Wolverhampton makes this fixture an opportunity MU simply cannot afford to waste.

Wolves have been struggling badly since appointing Rob Edwards as their new manager. Instead of improving, their performances have continued to decline.

“Wolverhampton haven’t shown any real signs of improvement since Rob Edwards came in. I don’t see anything that suggests they’re about to turn things around,” Shearer said.

“They haven’t scored in several matches, they haven’t collected any points recently, so I really cannot see how they can take anything from United.”

MU Are Not Perfect Either — But Wolves Are Worse

Shearer also acknowledged that Manchester United themselves have hardly been convincing. Under Ruben Amorim, the team remains inconsistent and still struggles to maintain momentum from game to game.

Even so, Shearer insists United are still significantly better than Wolves at this moment.

“United haven’t been particularly convincing lately. They’re still very up and down. But looking at how poor Wolves have been, I think United will come out on top — even if I’m not 100% certain they’ll do it comfortably.”

Warning: MU’s Head-to-Head Record vs Wolves Is Terrible

Despite predicting a Manchester United win, Shearer highlighted one major red flag: MU’s recent record against Wolverhampton is shockingly poor.

Over the past year, United have lost twice to Wolves — both home and away. That means MU cannot afford to take this fixture lightly.

Last season’s defeats to Wolves were among United’s most embarrassing results, and fans have not forgotten.

“Their head-to-head record over the past year has been terrible. So United really need to be focused. If they want to get back into the top positions, matches like this are must-win games,” Shearer added.

Opportunity for MU to Restore Confidence

Beyond climbing the standings, this match also provides Manchester United a chance to rebuild confidence. After showing some positive developments early in the season, MU’s inconsistency returned with a string of disappointing results.

The good news is that Matthijs de Ligt and Diogo Dalot are fit again, giving Amorim more stability in defense. The Portuguese manager is expected to deploy his strongest lineup to secure a vital away victory.

Conclusion: No Excuses — MU Must Win

Considering Wolves’ dreadful form and MU’s need to bounce back, Alan Shearer believes there is absolutely no excuse for Manchester United to fail here.

If MU do not win, it would be a major blow to their top-four hopes and increase pressure on Ruben Amorim once again.

The big question now:

Will Manchester United finally deliver a convincing win, or will they repeat last season’s embarrassment against Wolves?
